I'd thought that the tin might look nice with these letters stuck on it spelling JOY. They had been stuck on the three framed hymns that have hung for many years over my piano. Until I took them down.
They did look okay on the tin, but something was missing. Distress! Of course, only rarely do distress and joy go together, but on this I was sure they would. So I pealed the paper off of a black crayon and rubbed. Mostly, I like how it came out. At least, I'm not going to let what I don't like about it distress me.

Truly. I am thankful for simple little home-y tasks like recycling things that I already have into different things.
But mostly that it's best to cover distress with joy.
