Randomly She Rolls Along

Can I just say that I am sooo happy that I started putting little trees up early this year?

I can? Good.

Because I'm having so much fun tweaking everything.

The bird tree in the hall needed something, and of course I had on hand just what it needed. Dried flowers. That softened the look and now I am very pleased with it.

And now for random thoughts.

Random thought Number One: I really truly do love Fall. Today I took Zeke for a walk and the crisp cold air felt wonderful.

Number Two: It's nice to live in a neighborhood where the kids from the school down the street knock on the door to ask if you have anything that they could pray about for you. I like that.

Number Two: The grub eating skunks have decimated our yard. When we raked leaves almost half of the front lawn came along with them. This makes THGGM sick, as he works really hard to have a nice lawn. Oh, well. It was just grass.

Number Three: Today while THGGM and I were out for breakfast we happened to be sitting by a booth where a young couple was receiving premarital counseling. It was fun making up our own scenarios while we tried not to listen in. Maybe we should just leave the young alone to figure it out on their own. They seemed so fresh-faced and happy, why ruin it with thoughts of who will do what in the relationship. Counseling, which in my humble opinion is necessary for EVERYONE, should resume full-time after 32 years of marriage with a counselor who asks both what bothers them the most. Then she/he could turn from one to the other and announce loudly "NO MORE SWEATERS. YOU HAVE ENOUGH SWEATERS". And then "SERIOUSLY? LEAVE SOMETHING AT THE THRIFT STORE FOR THE OTHER PEOPLE!" Eh hem. Glad I got that off my chest.

Number Four: Today I watched the local Santa Claus Parade on TV. Almost to the very end, there was Oldest Son, singing and dancing with the cast of "White Christmas". My boy. His uniform proudly displayed the Medal his great-grandfather received for his service in WWI. His clean shaven face and flat-top hair cut were very becoming.

Number Five: Do you read the blog Catalog Living? catalogliving.net/ Trust me. It's extremely funny. Especially if you are someone who looks at catalogs and wonders why anyone would DO that (says the lady with the bird Christmas tree).
Number Six: If you'd care to look, I did update my http://www.simplythrift.blogspot.com/ blog. Today I went to my two local thrift stores. One of them had a HUGE artificial Christmas tree which I wanted sooo very very much. But I didn't need it. Instead, I bought another picnic basket. Extolling the virtues of the humble picnic basket has become one of my favorite topics. This one is in very good condition and only cost $3.50. I didn't need it, but I will find a good use for it. I always do.
Number Seven: Friday I made a chocolate layer cake for DiL2's birthday. I made my mom's recipe for fudge frosting. It is to die from! At least it is if you happen to have diabetes and had just made peanut butter Rice Krispy treats the night before for THGGM to bring to 'snack day' at work. Then, next week I shall be making pecan pies and pumpkin rolls. The partying will not end until the family Christmas party on January 2nd. I'm sure this has something to do with why I throw myself into decorating. It's a wee bit less deadly than baking.
Number Eight: Famke said the cutest thing to THGGM this week. She had taken something away from Kado and didn't respond when told to give it back. THGGM called her over and said rather sternly,
"Famke, is there something you need to say?"
Famke: "Yes."
THGGM: "What?"
Famke: "I love you Pake."
Number Nine: I'm really angry about something. The speed limit on our street went up 10 mph, from 35 to 45. This is a very residential area with two near-by high schools. We are nearly rear-ended whenever we try to turn onto the side street our drive-way is off from, and that is when it was still 35 mph. I see NO sense in this. Who could possibly think that this is a good idea?
Number Ten: I really like Diet Coke.
Number Eleven: My Michael's 40% off coupon today went for ground glass glitter. I wonder what I'll do with that? It quite possibly was the ONLY thing NOT on sale at Michael's today.
Number Twelve: Are random joint pains COMMON? I can hardly move without wincing pain. But you know me, not one to complain!

Sorry to hear the lawn was wrecked.
I've gone from lovin them to hating them to back to lovin them over the years.
Marvelous reading post today m/f.
Wish I had some of your drive and ambition.
Overdid the heavy lifting yesterday and paying for it now, but I haven't learned a thing from it. :0)
A Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Grandchildren are sweet and manipulative!! What a cute story.

It was fun to catch up maybe my life is returning to something resembling that fantasy called normal.

You are funny, fresh, original and creative.
I didn't mention resourceful and optimistic, but those both apply too.
Love the stories of the grands, your shopping adventures, and what you've been doing in the house.

Be well,
Jen
