On Our Way to Recovery

Zeke had an x-ray this morning.  He has a collapsed disc in his back.  The vet was very optimistic that two weeks of rest and a few medications should do the trick.
Now if only he would eat the lovingly prepared cooked chicken with rice that has his medications in it!
Thank you all for your concern.

For Those Who Pray and Think Good Thoughts

for pets, please remember our Zeke.
This picture is from last week when he was enjoying a spring day outside with Famke and Kado.

Soon after I noticed that he had quit jumping up on the couches to look out of windows.

I thought it might have been an ear problem and checked that out.  When I moved him to clean the second ear, he bit me.  HARD.

I still thought it was his ear, but by the weekend (why do these things always happen on the weekends?!) it became obvious that something is very very wrong with either his hind legs or back.

We could not get him into a vet until tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM.

He eats and drinks if I bring it to him.  I'm doing my best to keep him comfortable with the recommended dosage of aspirin for his size.  It seems to help with his pain, but certainly not my pain watching him trying to get around dragging his back end.

When I bring him food, he will eat it.

Ugh.  I am just sick about this.

Poor boy.

THGGM Listens

When he asked me, I told him that what I wanted for Mother's Day was a dog clipper.

And, that is exactly what he got me!

Oh. And also flowers and sugar free chocolate.

He's a good man.

I think I have FINALLY removed all of the matted fur, and Zeke's looking more like a dog and less like an old mop every day.

Now I just need to find our hair cutting scissors and round out his face.

I wondered when I got him just how I would handle grooming him.

Hopefully I will get more efficient at it as time goes on.

At least after I finished today - and gave him a shower - he did NOT look embarrassed.

The Blizzard of 2011

The blizzard is certainly NOT one of my favorite things. Although I have to admit that is is absolutely beautiful outside right now.

And I had fun watching Zeke experience it.
Our driveway has a snow fence of sorts.
He just cannot figure that out.
So he came inside and pooped on the floor.

How is the weather by you?

New Family Member

I would like to indroduce you to Zeke.
He joined our family today by way of Daughter-in-law2's younger brother, who goes away to college tomorrow.
He is a Lhasa Apso, and three years old, just like Famke.
It's been 10 months since we've had a pet.
The time is right.
We already love him.
