Mr. Right Meme

I've seen this on several other blogs, and found it interesting! So, here is my take on THGGM

His Age? - 48

How tall is he? - 6'2"

How long have you been together? - We have been married 28 years.

How long did you know each other before you got together? - I first laid eyes on him in the sixth grade. We started dating at 15 and dated 4 years before we were married.

What physical features first attracted you to him? - His tall, blond, blue-eyed Dutchness

His eye color? - Blue

His hair color? - Blond

How did you meet? - I knew him from school, but really got to know him in Spanish Class. (Me llamo Judita. Donde es el bano?)

How serious is it? - Oh, it's serious.

Are you 'in love'? - Some days yes, some days it's a good thing we take our vows seriously. We are committed to loving each other for better or worse. It's harder, but longer lasting.

Do your parents like him? - My parents think he is wonderful.

Do you trust him? - As much as I trust any human being that I love. I have learned that it is more important to trust God.

Would you share a toothbrush with him? - No. I love him right up to the moon and back, but I would not WILLINGLY share a toothbrush. And bless him for feeling the same way!

Would he let you wear his pants? - The man has no butt. Once, he did hand a pair of pants to me and ask if I would 'stretch them out' for him.

Does he smoke or do drugs? - No. Although an antacid bottle sits on his nightstand. Funny, how what sits on the nightstand changes over time.

Do you have a shirt of his that you sleep in? - I did. But then he wore it to paint in.

Do you like the way he smells? - Yes. He has NEVER smelled bad in his life. Except for once, when he stepped on a rotten egg while we were walking along a river. THAT was bad!

Can you picture having kids with him? - I remember having kids with him. It was great fun.

What bothers you the most about him? - His need to sleep with a fan on. I've promised that I would hum softly until he falls asleep, but he insists upon the fan.

Does he have a temper? - No. But he does have an eyebrow he lifts.

Are you happy to be with him? - Oh, yes. Unspeakably happy.

Does he embarrass you in public? - No. Not me. The kids, yes.

Does he have any piercings? - No. In fact, I didn't either, until he bought me expensive pierced earrings for my 18th birthday and convinced my sister to take me to have it done.

Does he have any scars that you know of? - Yes.

Is he a party dude or stay at home? - He likes parties more than I do, but he now prefers to stay home.

Is he out going or shy? - Out going! The only thing shy about him are his kidneys.

Would he hang out with you and your friends? - Not if there is any sort of crafting involved.

Sing? - Yes. He can sing. He sang "Butterfly Kisses" at our daughter's wedding.

(i swapped out two question for these three i felt needed answering)

Does he have a sense of humor? - Yes, very much so. In fact, he is the funniest person I know.

Besides his (boyish Dutch good) looks, what attracted you to him? - His honesty, vulnerability and the ease with which we communicated.

Would you do it all again? Yes! Yes! A thousand times, yes! He's a good man. And, as Flannery O'Conner so eloquently put it, A good man is hard to find.

oh Judy, what a treat! Now thats a love story that really makes sense.
grade 6, eh? Yikes. (My one daughter is in gr 7 and the other gr 5.) My niece is 16, which was my age when I first laid eyes on my husband. So weird how we are still the people that we were so long ago. Somehow we knew who we were, even then. Although I wouldn't recommend marrieage in gr six!

And thank you for your recent comment.

Yup...and when the days are really good it is a wonder and one begins to think the bad days were only in one's imagination...

Lovely, Judy. Good men are hard to come by. Sounds like we were two of the lucky ones.

I just laughed my way through that one. Sorry sweetie, but when you wrote he asked you to put on his pants to stretch the butt out, I got a good giggle and I'm still chuckling. Now I don't know you so I don't know why he would say that...teehee.

Welcome, Robin!

And thank you, devoted commenters, for your very kind comments!

This one was fun. I like being reminded that I am married to a complex combination of part wonderful guy - part weirdo.
