Straight Line Winds

 Some pretty serious storms blew through several of our favorite spots in Michigan earlier in August.

On Saturday THGGM and I went to Traverse City for a wedding.

We met our friends Bart and Anne there, and had a little bit of time before the wedding, so we took them for a drive up Peninsula Dr. on the Mission Peninsula to show them one of our favorite spots.

We had no idea that we would be seeing storm damage.

This is six days after the storm.

Still no power.

What a shock!

We did not go far before we turned around.

There is something so sad about looking at other people's misfortune.

Straight line winds can do incredible damage.

This picture gives it some perspective.  Look at the amount of earth that pops up when a tree blows down!  Wow.  Just wow.  Nature is a powerful force.
