This means that I have been a grandma for 10 months.
Wow.
Today, Baby Boy said his first word to me. This is besides calling me 'bum-bum'.
I handed him a block, and he clearly said 'Block!'. Then he said it again, and again, and again (i have a lot of blocks!).
I am working to get him to call me 'Beppe', a lovely Frisian word for grandmother.
He prefers 'bum-bum'.

I thought of your grandson last night. I was looking for a catalog to accumulate ideas when I saw a picture of a baby in drop back jammies that read "Baby's First Christmas" the child was crawling quite well and it seemed strange at first because it so often seems 'first christmas' items are aimed at newborns and then common sense kicked in not all babies are born before Christmas and I child born January 1st such as baby boy gets to enjoy his first Christmas a lot more than a baby born in November and December. He is going to have a ball!!
Maybe someday he will be able to say, "Bûter, brea, en griene tsiis; wa't dat net sizze kin, is gjin oprjochte Fries". It should be too hard, as the old saying goes, "As milk is to cheese, are English and Frise."
Me - It's going to be confusing for the poor boy, as he appears in Christmas party pictures when he is only a few days old. Our family party was postponed until AFTER his birth, so there he sits, by a decorated tree...
I think we might have trouble finding him 'baby's 1st Christmas' stuff, as he wears 18 - 24 months - which sort of pushings him right out of that first year.
Chris - How would one say 'Uncle Cousin' in the Frisian language?
